1-Flugzeugfenster

My work with the title »FlugzeugFensterKleider« since 2014 is based on a concept of thinking. Its basis is to see clothing analogous to architecture. Clothing represents the environment closest to the body. It surrounds us like a body covering, which continues in the objects we deal with, up to the spaces around us. This view is based on the personal point of view, seen from the inside out, from my most intimate surroundings to the vast public space. In this layered model, the window represents a threshold, a transitional situation through which the inside connects with the outside. The window allows the view from inside to outside, as well as the view inside. The opening in the dress, for example the neckline, is like a window. The windows of my clothing series represent a paradox. Instead of a glance at the body, they direct the gaze outwards, into the wide world. The body is described with the view of the landscape, from the elevated position out of the airplane window.
In this »overview« the landscape is understood as a whole, »the world«, and is equated with the body. The aim is to raise an identification with the enviroment, with the planet.
